Changes! Life is all about change and as we count down to Christmas and then a New Year I reflect on all that has changed since last year this time. Children seem to change the most and I am amazed at how my daughter has grown and changed this past year. She turns two in the beginning of January so this year she has grown so much. E has changed from baby to little girl, it seems almost overnight! I am always blown away by her and how much she learns everyday! I have felt a little sad that my little baby is disappearing but that comes with delight as I watch her try new things and experience life in a whole new way! I love that she is so delighted at the smallest of things and it has made me look at those little things that make up our day in a whole new way! Baking cookies and unloading the dishwasher has never been so fun, when it is coupled with dancing and giggling! This year has brought change in my life as well! I have created a business which I love! I am so grateful that I am in a position to follow this dream and work towards building something I am truly passionate about. As most know I under went surgery to remove a cancerous tumor and I am now considered Cancer free. I look back and find it hard to believe that last year at this time I had no idea what the year would bring! Looking ahead I could worry about what the upcoming year will bring but I am grateful for beliefs that help me accept an unknown future. I feel so glad that through trying times we can find a new strength in ourselves. This year I have learned alot about me and I think we can always surprise ourselves at how adaptable and strong we can be. My husband is also changing it up! He has recently started a new job which we are both very excited about! He has spent the last three years working for himself and decided it was time for a change! My husband and I were married when we were 20 over 7 years ago! Alot has changed since that day but I am so glad that some things never do! Change makes us adaptable and strong but good relationships that are always constant are the things that get us through! I am so looking forward to a New Year and New Experiences! Happy Holidays...enjoy all the good food, family time and all the things t Its been awhile... 11/23/2010
So its been awhile since I have blogged and since then so much has happened both in my personal life and The Green Coconut life :) We have a new fantastic website and a new product! We have had some new products at thegreencoconut.ca! They are our Sticky Letters printed on the great sticky material we use for our Sticky Charts. The great fabric that you can stick on your walls, take it down, move it around and never ruin your walls. We all love to repaint and decorate but not because of nail holes or ruined drywall! But our Sticky material allows you to take down your chart when you do paint and put it back up when you are done! Well enough about the material and more about the products right! Our Sticky Letters come in all kinds of fun patterns and colours and each letter is individually cut and comes in a size of your choosing. We will also be offering our Sticky Letters in a sign to save you money! Rather than individually cut letters the names will be printed on a sign and the child birth date and name meaning can be added to complete the picture all starting at $28! Take a look at some of the great designs we have done recently of the Sticky Wall Names (signs) Pathology 11/23/2010
I received a phone call the other day and my oncologist on the other end told me my pathology was back. I held my breathe as he told me my results. But the news was only positive! The tumor was radiating beyond my initial surgery but with the second they got it all and with a clear margin around the edges! What a huge relief and such a large weight lifted off of my shoulders! It made me think back over my experience and be so grateful for my wonderful family and friends who were just there! Either with a phone call, a visit or extended baby sitting duty! I recently ordered a t-shirt that states: CANCER There are easier ways to build character! And while there are definitely easier ways for character building, why not love the character we are building! We are what we are because of all of the bumps along the way! My Start Up Story 11/23/2010
The Green Coconut In opening The Green Coconut I have had two motivators. The first is my daughter, the amazing, funny one and a half year old that calls me Mumum! It has always been my dream to work for myself and I knew I wanted to show my daughter that dreams are more than wishes. I wanted to show her that with hard work you can make a dream a reality. I also knew I wanted to spend as much of my time with her as possible and The Green Coconut has allowed me to do this! The second started with a trip to my doctor. I had recently had a small lump removed from my arm and told it was nothing to worry about. As it turns out it was a malignant tumor growing slowly in my arm, imagine my shock as I sat with my daughter at what I thought would be a routine lab result appointment. Next came appointments with a Plastic Surgeon and an Oncologist and then I waited for surgery. With this waiting came late nights so instead of staying in bed wide awake I decided to turn to design. I really needed this creative outlet and it is possible that it kept me sane (mostly With this came a change of focus, I could concentrate on starting a business, designing products and looking into the future! I have since had surgery, struggled with scars (with that came a great new product) and received an all clear from my oncologist. The Green Coconut has been my way to heal as well as a fun and challenging way to be at home with my daughter. |
